Small Businesses Increase Marketing Budgets and AI Use in 2026
Survey of over 1,500 small business owners shows rising marketing investments and AI adoption for 2026 according to Demand Gen Report.
Small businesses surveyed for Constant Contact’s Small Business Now report expect to raise both marketing budgets and time spent on marketing in 2026. More than 1,500 small business owners were polled on their plans amid current economic conditions.
Budget and Time Allocations Rising
68% of small business owners expect their marketing budgets to increase in 2026. 74% expect the time they spend on marketing to increase this year. The report was covered according to Demand Gen Report.
Channel Priorities
68% of respondents expect social media, including organic posting and paid ads, to be their most valuable channel. 41% expect email marketing to deliver the most value. Small businesses are concentrating efforts on these two channels.
AI Adoption and Efficiency Focus
54% of small businesses are already using AI. Another 27% plan to start using AI in 2026. Tasks include analyzing trend data (45%), writing emails or content (44%), and creating images (40%). 50% are prioritizing efficiency improvements. 36% are creating or refining their marketing strategy.
Automation and Platform Use
Small businesses are adopting single platforms to manage social media and email marketing together. Automation features handle tasks such as welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, and scheduling social posts.
