In short

A US sales operations manager earns a median base of about $97,000 in Payscale's data (October 2026) and $123,905 in Salary.com's (November 1, 2026). Revenue operations managers sit in the same band, with a $124,555 Salary.com median. Most pay is base: Built In's average variable is $16,485, usually a bonus tied to company bookings and forecast accuracy.

We read the top Google results for this search on October 25, 2026. Every one of the top five is a single city or state page from Indeed, Glassdoor or ZipRecruiter: Atlanta, Phoenix, Florida, Boston, and one national figure for senior managers. None of them says whether the number is base or total pay, and none covers the RevOps manager title, which is the same job at many companies. This page puts each national source side by side with its date, covers both titles, shows the ladder from analyst to director, and explains how the bonus is paid.

How much does a sales operations manager make? Ranges by source

Published sales operations manager pay runs from a $97,000 median base (Payscale) to a $129,400 median base at SaaS companies (Founderpath), and the spread comes from who each source counts. We do not blend these into one number. Each row is one source, with what it measures and when we read it.

How to read the table:
  • Base vs total. Payscale, Founderpath and Built In's $108,326 are base salary. Built In's $124,811 and SalesJobs.com's $171,272 include variable pay. Payscale's total range adds bonus ($2,000 to $20,000), commission ($3,000 to $26,000) and profit sharing ($1,000 to $20,000). Compare base to base and total to total.
  • Who is counted. Payscale draws heavily on early-career profiles: 313 of its 675 profiles report one to four years of experience. Founderpath counts only SaaS companies, where the role usually owns more systems and more of the forecast. That explains much of the $32,400 gap between their medians.
  • The federal series. BLS has no sales operations code. O*NET's job title search maps "sales operations manager" to Sales Managers (SOC 11-2022), which mostly counts people who direct sellers. Its $148,270 median sits above every sales ops base median and average in the table, so treat it as a ceiling for the title, not a benchmark. OEWS wages include commissions and production bonuses but leave out other bonuses, per the OEWS technical notes.
  • Snippets and gaps. Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter block automated reading, so their figures come from Google results on October 25, 2026. Indeed shows only city and state pages for this title. SalesJobs.com lists a different figure ($110,000 base, $140,000 total) in its own role summary, and Built In's city section compares against a $102,469 benchmark that differs from its $108,326 average.

What does a revenue operations manager make?

RevOps manager pay lands in the same range as sales ops pay: a $124,555 median at Salary.com and a $100,000 median base at SaaS companies in Founderpath's data. The RevOps title usually covers marketing and customer success operations as well as sales. Here is each source for that title:

Salary.com$124,555 median; $111,640 to $134,390 (25th to 75th); $99,882 (10th) to $143,344 (90th)Salary.com estimate from employer job postings and third-party data, USAs of November 1, 2026

Levels.fyi$208,617 average total compensation; $195,000 medianAll revenue operations levels, US, total pay including stockGoogle result, October 25, 2026 (the page did not load for us)
Two notes. The Revenue Operations Alliance figures are from 2024, so they are older than every other row; we include them because they are the only source that splits RevOps pay by seniority. Levels.fyi counts every RevOps level and includes equity, and its data leans toward large tech employers, so its figure is not comparable with the base-only rows.

Sales ops vs RevOps: which title pays more?

The sources disagree, so the title alone does not decide pay. Salary.com's two medians are $650 apart. Founderpath puts sales ops $29,400 above RevOps at SaaS companies. Glassdoor's averages put RevOps $15,439 above sales ops. What moves pay is scope: who owns the forecast, the territory and quota plan, and the systems across marketing, sales and success.

Pay by level: analyst to director

Each step up the operations ladder adds tens of thousands in base pay, and the biggest jump is from manager to senior manager or director. No single current source lists every level on the same basis, so each row names its source:

One more sign of how far sources drift: ZipRecruiter's senior sales operations manager page showed an $85,954 average in October 2026, below most sources' figures for the manager title. Treat any one number for a senior title with care.

The analyst to manager step is where the job changes. An analyst builds the reports; a manager owns the process and the people who run it. For how these roles stack at each company stage, see revenue operations team structure.

What is a typical sales ops pay mix?

Sales operations pay is mostly base: variable pay is about 13% of total pay in Built In's data. Three dated data points:
  • Built In, read November 2, 2026: $108,326 base out of $124,811 average total pay is 87% base and 13% variable.
  • Payscale, October 2, 2026: bonus of $2,000 to $20,000 and commission of $3,000 to $26,000 against a $97,000 median base.
  • Founderpath, September 2026: RevOps manager pay is "mostly base salary", with the annual bonus tied to company revenue targets or forecast accuracy rather than an individual quota. The same applies to its director of revenue operations data.

Indeed's city and state pages for this title, read November 2, 2026, list $23,000 of commission per year next to the base for Atlanta, Connecticut, Portland and Pennsylvania alike, so it looks like one national figure. Indeed says its figures come from job postings over the past 36 months.

That mix is very different from a sales leader's. A sales director or VP of Sales is often paid close to half of OTE as variable on a team quota. A sales ops manager does not sell, so the bonus pays for the company result and for the quality of the work behind it. RevOps Co-op's compensation guide (May 13, 2025) makes the same point: for individual contributors who do not carry quota, the variable should be a bonus on top of a fair market salary. It suggests about 70% base and 30% variable only for executive leaders such as a VP of RevOps.

How bookings and forecast accuracy drive the bonus

A sales ops bonus usually pays on two things the manager influences without closing deals: the company bookings number and how close the forecast came to it. Bookings attainment rarely lands at plan. The Bridge Group found that 48% of account executives reached annual quota in its June 22, 2026 AE report, so a bonus with a hard bookings threshold will often pay below target. Forecast accuracy is the second piece, and a fair target needs a benchmark: Gartner reports that only 7% of sales teams reach 90% or better forecast accuracy, and the median is 70% to 79% (Gartner).

Worked example: one sales ops bonus plan at six bookings levels (illustrative)

The plan below is illustrative, not a benchmark. A sales operations manager at a SaaS company has a $125,000 base and a $20,000 target bonus, so target cash is $145,000. The bonus has three pieces:

  • $10,000 on company new ARR bookings. Nothing pays below 80% of plan. At 80% it pays half, rising in a straight line to the full $10,000 at 100%. Above plan it rises 2 points for every point of attainment, capped at 150% ($15,000).
  • $6,000 on forecast accuracy. Paid in full if the quarter's committed forecast lands within 5% of actual bookings, half within 10%, nothing beyond that.
  • $4,000 on projects, such as a CRM cleanup or the territory plan delivered on time, paid as an MBO bonus.

In the first six rows, the forecast and project pieces are paid in full, so the bookings effect stands alone:

Company bookings attainmentBookings pieceTotal bonusTotal cashShare of target cash
75%$0$10,000$135,00093.1%
85%$6,250$16,250$141,25097.4%
95%$8,750$18,750$143,75099.1%
100%$10,000$20,000$145,000100.0%
110%$12,000$22,000$147,000101.4%
125%$15,000$25,000$150,000103.4%
100%, forecast missed by more than 10%$10,000$14,000$139,00095.9%
The check on the 85% row: 5 points above the 80% gate is a quarter of the way from 50% to 100% payout, so the piece pays 62.5% of $10,000, which is $6,250.

What the example shows:

  • Pay barely moves with bookings. From 75% to 125% attainment, total cash moves from $135,000 to $150,000, about 10% of target cash. In the illustrative plan on our sales director salary page, director pay moves from $184,000 to $312,000 between 50% and 110% rep attainment.
  • The forecast piece is the lever the role owns. A company that hits plan but misses its own call by more than 10% costs the manager $6,000, more than the bookings piece pays between 100% and 125%.
  • The threshold still matters. At 75% bookings the manager loses the whole bookings piece. If the company plan is built on rep attainment no team has produced, the bonus is a weaker promise than it looks.

Pete's view on what sales ops is paid for

The work a sales ops team is buried in is often not the work it should be paid for. When a company goes looking for a new forecasting tool, one of the two usual triggers is that Sales Ops is completely overwhelmed. They are maintaining 37 spreadsheets with 12 tabs in each, and they are asked to run the forecast call instead of the sales leaders. At that point Sales Ops is spending more time assembling the forecast than analyzing the business. They are usually the team that needs help most, and they do not always say it out loud.

The habit I would pay for is the conversation. The RevOps person who is accountable for the forecast should be talking to their sales leaders every day, and certainly before the weekly forecast call. The math of a forecast matters, but so does the rhythm of the team, and you have to challenge the assumptions in the model with what you hear. That is why I like forecast accuracy in the bonus: it rewards the part of the job that cannot be done in a vacuum.

Sales operations manager salary by location

Self-reported sales ops figures by location run from $67,463 base (Indeed, Pennsylvania) to $149,994 (Built In, remote roles), and every figure with a BLS match sits below the BLS median for sales managers in the same place. Sources for the right-hand column: Built In's US page (city list); Salary.com's New York RevOps page; Glassdoor's Boston and Phoenix pages; Indeed's Atlanta, Portland, Connecticut and Pennsylvania pages; ZipRecruiter's Florida and Texas RevOps pages. Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter block automated reading, so those figures come from Google results. Indeed's city pages rest on small samples: its Atlanta figure comes from 8 salaries.

Two patterns stand out. Remote roles top Built In's list, $41,668 above its US average base, which fits remote sales ops jobs being concentrated at software companies. And the gap to the BLS sales manager median varies widely: in New York the BLS median is $94,314 above Built In's sales ops figure, in San Francisco only $35,967 above it.

How industry changes the closest federal series

Software pays sales managers more than the all-industry median in BLS data, and software is where many sales ops and RevOps managers work. In the same sales manager series, May 2025, the median is $168,370 at software publishers and $180,460 in computer systems design, against $148,270 for all industries (BLS OEWS, national industry estimates via the BLS public data API, pulled November 2, 2026). The full percentile table by industry is on the sales director salary page.

The software premium shows up in the sales ops data too: Founderpath's SaaS-only median ($129,400) sits $32,400 above Payscale's all-industry median ($97,000). In a SaaS company, the sales ops manager's salary is part of sales and marketing expense, and the job is tied to ARR, bookings and the forecast the board reads.

How to set or negotiate a sales ops manager offer

Start from the scope of the job, then match a base figure from two sources, then check how the bonus is measured. Five steps:
  • 1. Name the scope. Write down which of these the role owns: CRM administration, the forecast call, territory and quota design, comp plan administration, and marketing or customer success operations. A role that owns the forecast and the plan is closer to a senior manager or director than to the title's median, and it works most closely with the CRO, whose own variable rides on the same company plan (see the chief revenue officer salary guide).
  • 2. Match the source to the company. Use Founderpath's SaaS figures for a software company and Salary.com's range for a mid-career manager. Compare base to base.
  • 3. Ask what the bonus pays on. Company bookings, forecast accuracy, projects or a team commission. Ask for the payout at last year's actual results.
  • 4. Check the forecast measure. Ask which forecast is scored (the week-one call or the final one), against what tolerance, and who sets the number. A manager should not be paid on a forecast that sales leaders submit and the manager cannot challenge.
  • 5. Price the workload. Ask how many spreadsheets the role inherits and whether the team has a forecasting tool. A sales ops manager who spends the week assembling the forecast has less time for the analysis the bonus rewards.

For what the role covers day to day, see the sales operations manager and revenue operations manager glossary entries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a sales operations manager make?

It depends on the source. Payscale puts the US median base at about $97,000 (updated October 2, 2026), Built In puts average base at $108,326 with $124,811 of total pay (read November 2026), and Salary.com puts the median at $123,905 (November 1, 2026). Founderpath's median for US SaaS companies is $129,400 base, from 36 salaries.

What is the average salary for a revenue operations manager in the US?

Salary.com puts the US median at $124,555 as of November 1, 2026, with most managers between $111,640 and $134,390. In Google results seen on October 25, 2026, Glassdoor showed a $127,059 average and ZipRecruiter showed $96,532. Founderpath's SaaS-only median is $100,000 base from 44 salaries, updated September 2026.

Do sales operations managers get commission or a bonus?

Most get a bonus rather than a commission. Built In's average additional cash is $16,485 on a $108,326 base, about 13% of total pay. Founderpath reports that RevOps bonuses are usually tied to company revenue targets or forecast accuracy, and that the role rarely carries an individual quota. Some smaller companies pay a team bookings commission instead.

Do RevOps managers earn more than sales ops managers?

The sources disagree, so the title alone does not settle it. Salary.com's medians are almost equal: $124,555 for RevOps and $123,905 for sales ops (November 1, 2026). Founderpath's SaaS data puts sales ops higher, while Glassdoor puts RevOps higher. Scope matters more than the title: owning the forecast and the plan for marketing, sales and success pays more.

Is RevOps a good career for pay growth?

The pay ladder is steep. In the Revenue Operations Alliance 2024 report, North American RevOps managers averaged $118,097 base, senior managers $170,779 and VP or director titles $187,973. Founderpath's September 2026 SaaS data puts a director of revenue operations at a $150,000 median base, $50,000 above its RevOps manager median.

What do sales ops managers do to earn their pay?

A sales operations manager runs the data and process a sales team depends on: CRM hygiene, the forecast cadence, territory and quota design, comp plan administration and the reports leadership reads every week. The pay rises with how much of that the role owns, and most of all with whether the manager is accountable for the forecast.
